These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of The Cicerone Method, including the website at theciceronemethod.com, the portal, the Thought Partner add-on, and any related apps or services (together, the "Service"), operated by Cicerone ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account, starting a free trial, or subscribing, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
A plain-English summary of the billing and cancellation terms is in Section 5. The full Terms still apply, but we have tried to make the important parts easy to read.
The Cicerone Method is a self-guided behaviour and productivity system delivered through an online portal. It includes structured protocols, a thirty-day plan, science references, a troubleshooter, reflection and evidence-logging tools, and, as an optional paid add-on, the Thought Partner, an AI-assisted coaching feature.
The Service is for educational and self-improvement purposes only. It is not medical, psychological, psychiatric, or therapeutic advice, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. We say more about this in Section 9.
We update the Service regularly. New protocols, content, and features may be added, and existing ones may change or be removed. Because the Service is continuously maintained and improved, access is provided on a subscription basis (Section 4).
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use the Service. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at support@theciceronemethod.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
You agree to give accurate account and billing information and to keep it up to date.
We may offer a free trial. Whether a trial is included, and how long it lasts, depends on the plan you choose and is shown clearly at checkout. If you start a trial, you give us a valid payment method at sign-up, and we do not charge you during the trial period.
When the trial ends, your subscription automatically converts to a paid subscription at the price shown when you signed up, and your payment method is charged, unless you cancel before the trial ends. You can cancel anytime during the trial from your Profile, and you will not be charged.
If you add the Thought Partner add-on during a portal trial, the add-on shares the same trial end date as your portal subscription, so both convert to paid on the same day and are billed together. Adding the add-on does not extend or restart your trial.
We will send you a reminder before your trial ends so the first charge is never a surprise. We reserve the right to limit free trials to one per person and may decline to offer a trial, or end a trial early, if we detect abuse.
The Service is sold as a recurring subscription. Current plans and prices are shown at checkout and may include:
Prices, plan names, and any promotional or quiz discounts are displayed at the point of purchase and control over any figure stated elsewhere. Prices are in USD and may exclude taxes, which we add where required by law.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (fortnightly, monthly, or annual, depending on your plan) at the then-current price for that plan, until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorise us, through our payment processor, to charge your payment method for each renewal until you cancel.
We may change subscription prices. If we change the price of a plan you are on, we will give you advance notice by email before the change takes effect, and the new price will apply from your next renewal. If you do not agree to a new price, you can cancel before it takes effect.
Payments are handled by our processor, Stripe. Charges appear on your statement as "CICERONE." We do not store your full card details.
If a renewal payment fails, we may retry it and may suspend access until payment succeeds. If payment cannot be collected, we may cancel the subscription.
Plain English: You can cancel anytime from your Profile with no fees. You keep access until the end of the billing period you have already paid for. We do not offer refunds for time you did not use, except where the law requires it.
You can cancel anytime. Go to your Profile, open Membership, and start the cancellation. There are no cancellation fees.
What happens when you cancel. Your subscription stops renewing. You keep full access until the end of the billing period you have already paid for. When that period ends, your access stops. We do not lock you out the moment you cancel.
Refunds. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods or for time you did not use. Because you keep access through the end of the period you paid for, and because you can cancel anytime to prevent the next charge, payments already made are generally non-refundable, except where a refund is required by law in your country (see Section 6). If you were charged because of a genuine error on our side, contact us at support@theciceronemethod.com and we will make it right.
Your data after cancellation. Your account data is deleted promptly after cancellation. If you would like a copy of your data before cancelling, contact us at support@theciceronemethod.com and we will assist you.
Nothing in these Terms removes rights you have under the consumer laws of your country that cannot be waived by agreement. Customers in Australia have rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), and customers in the European Union, the United Kingdom, and other jurisdictions may have statutory cancellation or refund rights for digital services. Where such rights apply, they override anything in these Terms that conflicts with them. If you believe you have a statutory right to a refund, contact us at support@theciceronemethod.com.
Where a free trial is offered and you begin using digital content immediately, you may be asked to acknowledge that you want access right away and understand this can affect a statutory cooling-off period. We will make any such acknowledgment clear at checkout.
You agree not to share, resell, or sublicense your account; not to copy, scrape, or redistribute the Service's content; not to reverse-engineer or interfere with the Service; and not to misuse the Thought Partner (for example, by attempting to extract the underlying prompts or use it for anything unlawful or harmful). We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms or abuse the Service.
The Service, including the protocols, written content, science summaries, designs, logos, and the Cicerone name, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to access the Service for your own use while your subscription is active. Anything you create inside the Service (your entries, wins, reflections, and plans) belongs to you; you grant us a limited licence to store and process it so we can provide the Service.
The Cicerone Method is a self-improvement and educational tool. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition, including ADHD or any executive-function, mental-health, or medical condition.
Thought Partner disclaimer: The Thought Partner is a reflection guide and tool, and can make mistakes. It is not a substitute for clinical therapy or medical advice. Responses are generated by an AI model and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inconsistent. The responsibility for actions and outcomes sits entirely with the user.
If you are struggling with your mental or physical health, please speak to a qualified professional. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not promise specific results; outcomes depend on you. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we exclude implied warranties and limit our total liability to you to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will notify you by email or in the Service before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, abuse the Service, or fail to pay. Where we end your access without cause and you have paid for a period you cannot use, we will refund the unused portion.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be handled in the courts of Victoria, Australia, except where your local consumer law requires otherwise.
